Janeí E. Au
Senior Associate Attorney
Ms. Janeí E. Au is an associate attorney with Gilbert Employment Law, focusing in the areas of federal employment litigation. Ms. Au represents clients in federal sector employment claims before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB). She also represents clients in private sector employment claims. Ms. Au’s practice focuses on age/gender/race/disability discrimination, whistleblower retaliation, and proposed disciplinary and adverse actions. Ms. Au also represents individuals pursuing reasonable accommodations in the workplace.
Before joining the firm as an associate attorney in 2016, Ms. Au served as a law clerk both at Gilbert Employment Law and Sanford Heisler, where she worked on a wide range of employment discrimination issues. Ms. Au also interned in the Special Victims Division of the Montgomery County State’s Attorney Office. While in law school, Ms. Au served as a Note & Comment editor of the American University Journal of Gender, Social Policy, & the Law, which published her article, “A Remedy for Male-to-Female Transgender Inmates: Applying Disparate Impact to Prison Placement”, in Volume 24, Issue 3. Prior to attending law school, Ms. Au assisted sexual assault victims as an intern with the Victim Advocate section of the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office in Kansas City, Missouri.
Ms. Au earned her Juris Doctor from American University’s Washington College of Law. She graduated from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.
