The National Employment Lawyers Association (NELA) announced two rulemaking comments which it filed in June 2022, one comment with the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) supporting new regulations implementing the ‘ban the box’ provisions of the Fair Chance Act, and the other comment opposing proposed Office of Government Ethics (OGE) regulations which would regulate how federal employees pay for their legal representation in employment law matters (including possibly requiring disclosure and approval of terms of confidential fee arrangements between attorneys and clients). GEL attorney Andrew J. Perlmutter assisted in drafting the comments and his contribution was recognized by NELA in the announcement.
