Biography
DANIEL B. KOHRMAN joined Gilbert Employment Law, P.C., as Of Counsel in May 2024. Mr. Kohrman worked as a Senior Attorney in the AARP Foundation’s Washington, D.C. legal advocacy unit from 2001 through April 2024. His practice primarily consisted of trial and appellate litigation on behalf of older workers in federal and state courts with an emphasis on age and/or disability discrimination claims. Prior to that, Mr. Kohrman worked as a Trial Attorney in the U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division, from 1998-2001, and as a Supervising Attorney for National Litigation with the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law from 1995-98, both in Washington, D.C. He began his legal career with the firm of Hogan & Hartson (now Hogan Lovells) specializing in affirmative civil rights litigation on behalf of urban public-school systems (1985-95). Mr. Kohrman has served on the national executive boards of the National Employment Lawyers Association (NELA) and the American Diabetes Association. He has made presentations at NELA and ABA conferences and in CLE courses of the D.C. Bar, the N.Y.C. Bar, and the Practicing Law Institute on the Age Discrimination in Employment Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act and analogous state laws. He has published two employment law journal articles and twice taught a class in civil rights and civil liberties as an adjunct professor at George Washington University Law Center.
Mr. Kohrman received his J.D. from Columbia University Law School in 1984 and in the same year earned a master’s degree in public affairs from Princeton University. He graduated with honors from Yale College in 1978.
After law school, Mr. Kohrman served as a law clerk for U.S. District Court Judge Stanley S. Brotman in Camden, New Jersey. Mr. Kohrman is a member of the bars of the District of Columbia and the State of New York.
